Who is Eligible for Medicaid Incentives?

  • Physicians (Pediatricians have special eligibility and payment rules)
  • Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
  • Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs)
  • Dentists
  • Physician Assistants (PAs) who provide services in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or rural health clinic (RHC) that is lead by a PA
  • Acute Care Hospitals
  • Critical Access Hospitals
  • Children's Hospitals

How do I qualify to receive incentives?

To qualify for incentive payment during the first year of participation, Medicaid Eligible Professionals (EPs) must adopt, implement, upgrade or demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. For each remaining year, the Medicaid EPs must then demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology. Under the Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Program, participants can receive up to $63,750 over six years from 2011 to 2021.
